Duties & Responsibilities

  • Managing, controlling and reporting on Council assets, including compilation of the asset register in terms of GRAP.
  • The compilation and maintenance of  Council’s Insurance Portfolio and handling of Insurance claims.
  • Manage Loss Control.  Investigation of improper conditions that can cause losses for Council.
  • Stores – ensure that all stock and stock movements are managed, controlled an recorded.
  • Manage personnel in sub-department Insurance , Asset Management and Stores

Projects - Current and Completed

Asset Management
We are currently in the process of the unbundling of all Infrastructure Assets in accordance with GRAP.  Langeberg Municipality is a medium capacity municipality and has compiled its annual financial statements for the year ended 30 June 2009 incompliance with GRAP (phase-in provisions for GRAP Implementation).  The municipality has a GRAP compliant asset register but the Infrastructure Assets needs to be unbundled in compliance with GRAP 13, 16, 17, 100, 101 and 102. This project should be completed in time for the annual financial statements for the year end 30 June 2011.
Stores
We are currently in the process of Centralizing the Municipal Stores . The Main Store issuing stock will be situated in Robertson. We hope to have this project completed by year end 30 June 2012.
