Duties & Responsibilities

  • Creating and implementing several strategies (including Public Participation Policy, Communication Strategy and Social Media Strategy).
  • Principal media liaison between municipality and various stakeholders, including the writing of press releases.
  • Establishing a social media presence (Facebook and Twitter).
  • Full control of the municipal website.
  • Liaising with the media for the placement of all Municipal advertisements
  • Research and implementation of an SMS and Database system.
  • All internal communication, including the research and implementation of an Intranet system.
  • Write / edit / compile monthly external newsletter in three major languages.
  • Write / edit / compile monthly internal newsletter.

  • To increase peoples understanding of services and through this increased understanding, to help improve satisfaction with these services.
  • To ensure that local community and stakeholders are aware of the Municipality’s visions and plans for the future.
  • Through public involvement, to listen to the needs and views of the community so that the right priorities can be established and responsive service be developed.
  • To maintain an appropriate and positive public image.
  • To ensure an effective, attentive and motivated workforce through good internal communication within the Municipality.
