The Police Secretariat has invited the public to comment on the South African Police Service Amendment Bill following Cabinet approval and gazette publishing last week. In a statement, the Secretariat said the draft Bill aims to amend the South African Police Service Act, 1995 (Act No. 68 of 1995) and establish a legal framework for policing aligned to the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa.

The Civilian Secretariat for the Police Service Act, 2011 (Act No. 2 of 2011), and the White Paper on Policing necessitated the transfer of the provisions relating to community policing from the South African Police Service Act, 1995, to the Civilian Secretariat for Police Service Act, 2011.

HANDY GUIDELINES FOR REFUSE BIN USERS

The wheelie bin is designed to make household waste and refuse disposal easy and efficient.

1. Place your sealed waste in the bin. Not next to it.
2. Keep safe and secure at all times. If stolen or damaged the bin will be replaced at a cost. Report theft to the police and retain the case number
3. Wash and disinfect the bin regularly. Store bin in a cool dry place out of the sun.

5. Place the bin on the pavement from 08:00 on the day of the weekly collection, including public holidays.
6. Do not put builders’ rubble, stones, rocks, sand, oil, metal (eg engine parts) or medical or hazardous waste and liquids in the bin. Sort and separate excess garden refuse, builders’ rubble and/or any other material not suitable for bins, and take them to the nearest municipal refuse drop-off facility for free disposal. These items damage the working parts of the collected refuse compacting system.

Bins remain the property of Langeberg Municipality and are allocated to residential properties for their entire life span as refuse containers.
Reduce. Re-use. Recycle. Stop littering.

5. Plaas die vullisdrom op die sypaadjie teen 08:00 op die dag waarop die weeklikse vullisverwydering plaasvind, ook op openbare vakansiedae.
6. Moenie bourommel, klippe, rotse, sand, olie, metaalvoorwerpe (soos enjinonderdele) of mediese of gevaarlike afval en vloeistowwe in die vullisdrom gooi nie. Gesorteerde en geskeide oortollige tuinafval en bourommel, of afval wat nie vir vullisdromverwydering geskik is nie, kan na die naaste munisipale aflaaiterrein geneem word vir gratis wegdoening. Hierdie voorwerpe beskadig die werkende dele van die vullisverwyderingskompakteringstelsel.

Vullisdromme bly die eiendom van die Langeberg Munisipaliteit en word aan residensiële eiendomme toegeken om vir hul lewensduur as vullisdromme gebruik te word.

From 01 October 2020, libraries have reopened and operate from 09:00 to 16:00, Mondays to Fridays with Robertson and Montagu Libraries also open on Saturdays from 10:00 to 12:00. 

  • Montagu and Sunnyside Libraries will reopen on Monday, 26 October 2020 under the same conditions as other libraries in Langeberg Municipality.
  • Due to ongoing technical difficulties service delivery may be slightly affected. We apologies in advance for any delay experienced at these libraries.
  • Montagu Library will be open on Saturdays from 10:00 to 12:00 starting 31 October 2020.
  • Ashbury Library will not be open on Saturdays.

Only a determined amount of patrons will be allowed at any time in the library and the following rules will apply:

  • The wearing of masks are compulsory and no one without a mask will be allowed to enter a library.
  • Patrons will only be allowed to stay in the library for 15 minutes. No one are allowed to sit and read books. All patrons will be encouraged to return their material, select new material and check it out as soon as possible to allow other patrons to use the library.
  • No children will be allowed to enter a library.
  • Only books may be checked out. Periodicals and other media, such as CD’s and DVD’swill not be available.
  • Each patron may lend 5 books in the adult section and 3 books for their children.
  • New patrons are encouraged to apply for membership at libraries.
  • The following services will not be available:
    •   Use of the study area
    •   Use of computer and internet facilities
    •   Photocopies
  • These conditions will be revised in December 2020 with possible changes beingimplemented on January 2021.

From 01 October 2020, vehicle owners will receive their Motor Vehicle Licence Renewal notifications (MVL2) via SMS or email. The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) will no longer issue notices through the post.

Should a motor vehicle owner not receive their electronic MVL2 notice, it can be downloaded from the NaTIS website at online.natis.gov.za or by using the RTMC Android Mobile Application.

Vehicle owners should ensure that their mobile numbers and email addresses are up-to-date on the NaTIS system by visiting their nearest traffic office, registering on the NaTIS website (online.natis.gov.za) or by using the Android Mobile Application (RTMC).

Collecting your vehicle licence

In order to renew your vehicles licence disc, vehicle owners are required to present:

  • The printed MVL2 sms or email notification to the cashier at the Traffic Office,
  • their Identity Document (ID).

Should a vehicle owner send someone else to renew a vehicle licence on their behalf, provide;

  • a signed letter of permission stating full names and ID numbers of both the vehicle owner and the person who collects the licence
  • a certified copy of the vehicle owner’s ID and
  • The representative’s ID.

How to download a vehicle licence renewal notice online: 

  • Motor vehicle owners can access and download their motor vehicle renewal notices at www.online.natis.gov.za
  • Once on the website click on “My Profile” and register your profile as follows:
    • Click on ‘individual’
    • Enter your ID number
    • Enter you surname and initials (enter the details as on your Driving Licence Card)
    • Enter you Driving Licence card number
    • Enter your email address AND your cell number
    • Once all the information has been submitted you will be required to enter the One Time Pin (OTP) in order for profile registration to be completed
  • Once your profile has been successfully registered, click on “View Motor Vehicle Renewals’
    • Click on individual if you a natural person
    • Then enter your ID number, surname and initials
    • Then proceed to the next page and enter the OTP as required.
    • Please note:
      • One the OTP is entered the motor vehicle/s which are up for renewal will be displayed. Should the motor vehicle licence have expired already then no information will be displayed.
      • Click download and print the notice.
    • The electronic notice with the unique reference number can now be presented to renew the motor vehicle licence.
