Directorate - Community Services

Duties & Responsibilities

• Offer support in relation to the following departments;
• Housing (Housing Administration, New Housing, Control of informal Settlements),
• Libraries, Parks & Amenities (Municipal Parks, Nature Reserve, Municipal Cemeteries),
• Community Facilities (Sporting Facilities, Swimming Pools, Community Halls),
• Fire & Disaster Management (Fire Services, Disaster Management).
• Responsible for the development,implementation and management of strategies, policies, systems and performance-plans for the directorate (and organization where applicable), in alignment with strategic objectives of the Municipality;
• Plan, Co-ordinate and implement Community Services Departments capital and expenditure budget;
• Managing all sections under Community Services effectively;
• Develop and implementation of the disaster management plan;
• Development of controlling plan of community facilities in the area;
• Manage and Co-ordinate housing projects in the area;
• Manage and co-ordinate recreation facilities and parks;
• Planning, implementing and co-ordination of projects as identified in the IDP;
• Implementation of Departmental performance management.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform administrative duties;
• Arrange appointments and co-ordinate the Director’s diary;
• Liaise, organize and co-ordinate all activities of the Director’s office, including travel arrangements;
• Handle all telephone calls of the Director;
• Be accountable for the general tidiness and image of the Director’s office;
• Arrange records and keep minutes at meetings;
• Perform any other work-related duties in the Director’s office.
