HOLIDAY MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR

The festive season is upon us, offering us a chance to spend valuable time with family and loved ones. It is also a time for giving and sharing, and it is important not to forget our community and to help those around us wherever we can.

Simple acts of kindness can make a significant difference. Let us embrace the spirit of compassion and generosity. Volunteer, organise donation drives, join community clean-up initiatives, or simply check on and assist your neighbours, especially those who may be less fortunate.

Keep an eye out for suspicious activity in your neighbourhood and report it to your Neighbourhood Watch or local authorities. Let us all contribute to making our communities safer for everyone.

If you plan to travel, ensure your vehicle is roadworthy. Stay vigilant, obey traffic regulations, keep valuables out of sight, and always lock your vehicle. Remember, it is crucial not to drink and drive.

We recently experienced fires in our municipal area that, fortunately, did not cause as much damage as initially feared. I would like to thank the Fire Services of Langeberg Municipality and Cape Winelands District Municipality for their hard work in extinguishing the fires. Thanks also to the volunteers and members of the public who assisted with food and drinks for the personnel. Residents are encouraged to report fires immediately to avoid escalation and ensure a swift response.

BOODSKAP VAN DIE BURGEMEESTER VIR DIE FEESGETY

Die feestyd is op hande en bied vir ons die geleentheid om waardevolle tyd saam met familie en geliefdes deur te bring. Dit is ook ’n tyd van gee en deel, en dit is belangrik om nie ons gemeenskap te vergeet nie en om ander rondom ons te help waar ons kan.

Eenvoudige dade van vriendelikheid kan ’n groot verskil maak. Kom ons omhels die gees van empatie en vrygewigheid. Raak betrokke en bied jou hulp aan by gemeenskapsuitreike,  reël skenkingsaksies, sluit aan by skoonmaakprojekte in die gemeenskap , of wees net daar vir jou bure, veral die wat minder bevoorreg is.

Wees bedag op  verdagte aktiwiteite in jou buurt en rapporteer dit aan jou Buurtwag of plaaslike owerhede. Kom ons dra by, om ons gemeenskappe veiliger te maak vir almal.

As jy beplan om te reis, maak seker jou voertuig is padwaardig. Bly waaksaam, gehoorsaam verkeersreëls, hou waardevolle items buite sig, en sluit altyd jou voertuig. Onthou, dit is van kardinale belang om nie te drink en te bestuur nie.

Ons het onlangs brande in ons munisipale area ervaar wat gelukkig nie soveel skade aangerig het as wat aanvanklik gevrees is nie. Ek wil graag die Brandweer van Langeberg Munisipaliteit en die Kaapse Wynland Distriksmunisipaliteit bedank vir hul harde werk om die brande te blus.  ‘n Hartlike woord van dank   ook aan die vrywilligers en lede van die publiek wat gehelp het met kos en drankies vir die personeel. Inwoners word aangemoedig om brande onmiddellik aan te meld om verspreiding  te voorkom en ’n vinnige reaksie te verseker.

Ek wens julle ’n feestyd vol vreugde, vriendelikheid en gemeensaamheid toe.  Kom ons bly almal bewus van die krag van omgee vir jou medemens en  vrygewigheid om so hierdie vakansie ‘n vreugdevolle tyd vir almal te maak. Bly veilig en deel liefde en empatie!
