Road users do not need to be scared of the crane at the Ashton bridge.

Several motorists are hesitant when it comes to driving underneath the crane’s arm in Ashton’s Main Road. Drivers slow down and even come to an abrupt stop, when they see the crane’s arm in the air above the road. This has led to traffic flow problems.

The Construction Team wants to assure the public that they don’t need to be worried about the crane’s arm breaking. There are many safety features built into the design that prevents unexpected failure.

The crane will not move any loads over the road without prior arrangement and traffic accommodation. However, when the crane is not loaded, its arm can turn 360° depending on the wind direction, but it is not a safety risk.

We hope that this will allay any fears and give road users the re-assurance they need. Your safety is our first priority.
